Mr Champ was the leader for the rescue party for the Ziegler Expedition. Arrival postmark "Hammerfest 26.8.05" at reverse. Also a postcard with an image of "S.S. Terra Nova". The Terra Nova was later used in 1910-12 by Captain Scott on his ill-fated attempt to be the first to reach the South Pole

Historic polar postal history cover with two 1d red on an Official blue envelope, cancelled "London my 22 76" (1876) and sent to "Lieutenant Egerton R.N. HMS Alert-Arctic Yacht Pandora Portsmouth". Transit "Portsmouth My 23 76" cds at reverse. The Pandora under Allen Young was sent to take mail to the British Arctic Expedition of 1875-76 in Greenland. Egerton reached a Farthest North during a sledge trip on this expedition.
